UNITE FOREVER – Cameo at Tomorrowland 2025 UNITE FOREVER – Cameo at Tomorrowland 2025 UNITE FOREVER – Cameo at Tomorrowland 2025 UNITE FOREVER – Cameo at Tomorrowland 2025

Just one year after its spectacular 20th anniversary, Tomorrowland 2025 was ready to raise the bar once again. But disaster struck just a few days before the start: a devastating fire destroyed the entire Main Stage, the iconic centrepiece of the festival. However, something remarkable happened: in just two days, the organisers and all the trades involved erected a new, smaller stage, with the charred rubble of the old Main Stage in the background. A strong, powerful sign of the dedication, creativity and perseverance of the live events industry! And the spirit of Tomorrowland lived on – not only on the newly constructed Main Stage, but throughout the entire festival site. On stages such as the Crystal Garden and the extraordinary Planaxis Stage, the energy remained noticeably electrifying. Cameo’s weatherproof moving lights, installed by PRG BeNeFra (responsible for lighting and rigging) and long-standing Tomorrowland partner L&L Stage Service, played a key role on four stages in total. Planning at Tomorrowland goes into full swing long before the festival. “Preparation for a show like Tomorrowland begins months in advance,” explains Peter Robberechts, Managing Director PRG BeNeFra. “Technical, creative and operational teams invest hundreds of hours in planning. Every summer, Icónica Sevilla Fest transforms the iconic Plaza de España into a vibrant open-air concert stage, uniting world-class music with one of Spain’s most breathtaking landmarks. Since its premiere in 2021, the festival has brought together national and international artists to celebrate music, architecture, and culture in perfect harmony. Surrounded by majestic arcades and bridges, the Plaza becomes more than a venue—it becomes a protagonist. In this extraordinary setting, lighting plays a crucial role in shaping the festival’s visual identity. For the 2025 edition, lighting designer J. J. López Clemente created an immersive, architectural lighting experience powered entirely by Cameo fixtures. We spoke with him about his design process, the challenges of illuminating a monument, and why Cameo was the perfect match for this unique venue. Tell us something about yourself. How long have you been working as a lighting designer and how did you get started? J. J. López Clemente: I’ve spent literally half my life in the entertainment industry. I’m 40 now, and I started working as a lighting assistant at the age of 19. For the first 17 years, I focused on technical work. It was only four years ago that I began transitioning to the Every summer, Icónica Sevilla Fest transforms the iconic Plaza de España into a vibrant... 90s nostalgia meets festival vibes – the “Love the 90s” festival series is an emotional revival for an entire generation. At the end of May, the open-air area in front of the iconic Museu de les Ciències in Valencia was transformed into a vibrant journey through time with 90s stars such as Snow, 2 Unlimited, La Bouche, and DJ Sashe! Under the radiant sun until nightfall, more than 15,000 visitors celebrated in front of the two spectacular stages for hours on end – accompanied by a monumental lighting design by the Spanish creative studio Experiencias Visuales, which featured more than 200 Cameo lights. Lighting design meets architecture For lighting designer Edu Valverde, who has been responsible for the stage and lighting concept for “Love the 90s” since 2017, this year’s design was based on brutalism: “Large surfaces, straight lines – inspired by German architecture. The stage was designed to resemble a monolithic structure while also serving as a screen for projecting LED videos.” The seamless transition from daylight to darkness, which required a high degree of flexibility and luminosity from all the light models, presented a particular challenge. On 10 June 2025, rock legend Bryan Adams made a stop in Málaga, Spain, as part of his current Roll With The Punches tour – and thrilled the audience of around 12,000 at the Auditorio Municipal Cortijo de Torres with an energetic open-air concert that left nothing to be desired. Between anthems such as “Summer of ’69”, “Run to You” and “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You”, the exceptional Canadian artist also presented songs from his new album – and relied on an understated but effective lighting design, for which the Andalusian event technology service provider Algo Suena used moving lights from Cameo, among others. “An artist like Bryan Adams doesn’t need an overloaded light show,” explains Serafín Sánchez, Managing Director of Algo Suena. “What counts is a clear, elegant design with the right dose of light power – and that’s exactly what the Cameo OPUS X4 PROFILE delivers.” Powerful and flexible – ideal for large stages The Cortijo de Torres municipal auditorium is one of the largest open-air venues in the south of Spain, with a stage roof spanning 55 metres, a 50-metre-wide stage and a total event area of more than 35,000 m². Moving heads or conventional profilers? This question is often raised when it comes to precise lighting design. In this final part of our series, we compare the two systems and shed light on when which option is worthwhile. How do moving head and static profile spotlights differ in terms of operation, precision, and workflow? When is a classic profile spotlight the better choice – and when is the flexibility of a moving head convincing? In addition, we’ll be looking at special applications, such as converting a profiler into a followspot. Whether it is for a theatre, trade fair, concert, or architectural lighting, here you can find out which system is best suited to your requirements. Moving head vers. Conventional Profile moving heads have long been found everywhere, even in theatres. Nevertheless, the demand for conventional LED profile spotlights remains strong. Why is the specialist (conventional profile spotlight) often preferred to the all-rounder (moving head profiler)? Let’s embark on a quest for answers. Of course, costs play a major role – why should you pay more for the additional functions of an all-rounder if you ultimately don’t use them? It makes sense to use a conventional profiler with a tube if Moving heads or conventional profilers? This question is often raised when it comes to... Moving heads or conventional profilers?
